Expense tracking
The best expense tracker apps for Thailand in 2026
Most "best budgeting app" lists are written for Americans and then sprinkled with country names. They assume your bank talks to Plaid, that your receipts are in English, and that you don't pay for lunch with a QR code. None of that holds in Thailand. This comparison starts from the questions that matter here: can the app get your Thai bank transactions in without you typing them, does it read Thai, does it handle PromptPay and LINE, and what does it cost in baht.
The short version
For hands-off tracking from Thai bank data: ThaiWealth AI, which reads statement PDFs (KBank today, SCB and Bangkok Bank in development). For credit-card discipline with a Thai-made app: Piggipo. For scanning Thai receipts and slips on iPhone with nothing leaving the device: Manee. For envelope budgeting purists who don't mind manual entry: YNAB. For a free, simple, bilingual manual tracker: Money Lover's free tier.
Nobody on this list, us included, syncs live with a Thai bank through an official API, because there isn't one yet. That's the section right after the table.

Prices reflect what the Thai App Store or the vendor's site showed at time of writing and change often. Where an app's Thai bank support couldn't be confirmed from the vendor or from users this year, the table says so.
Why no app can sync with your Thai bank
Every "connect your bank" feature you'll find in a Thai context, including Money Lover's linked wallet and Buxfer's bank pages, works by asking for your internet-banking username and password and logging in as you through a third-party aggregator. The bank hasn't agreed to it. When the bank changes its login page, the sync breaks until the aggregator catches up, and refresh is usually manual. Handing a foreign company your bank password is a decision you should make deliberately, and most Thai banks' terms say you shouldn't.
Thailand has no consumer open-banking API in 2026. The Bank of Thailand's dStatement scheme, launched in 2022, lets you send a verified digital statement from one bank to another bank for a loan application, for around ฿75 per account. Individuals can't route it to a budgeting app. A newer data-portability framework (Your Data) requires banks to build data-sharing channels, with individual deposit-account data due by the end of 2026, but whether an unlicensed consumer app can be a recipient is undefined, and no API is live yet.
That leaves three ways for an app to get your transactions: you type them, you photograph them, or you upload the statement the bank already gives you. ThaiWealth AI chose the third, because a monthly PDF is one action for a month of data and covers every transaction, not just the ones you remembered to photograph — download your statement first (for example through SCB EASY or the krungsri app), then upload it. Manee and Piggipo chose the second for the same privacy reason, with more effort per transaction. Everything else on the list is the first, sometimes dressed up.
App by app
ThaiWealth AI
Web app, Thai and English. You download a statement PDF from your bank app and upload it. The AI reads the Thai merchant descriptions, sorts them into categories, and learns from your corrections. Budgets with LINE alerts, a LINE bot for cash spending, a portfolio tracker priced from SET end-of-day data, and a deduction ledger for RMF, SSF, insurance premiums, and donations.
Limits, stated plainly: KBank is the only bank importing today; SCB and Bangkok Bank are in development, other banks after that. There's no native mobile app yet, and the company is new, so there are no independent reviews to point you to. Try the demo with a sample ledger and decide for yourself.
Free tier covers three uploads a month, categorisation, budgets, and the portfolio. Premium is ฿1,080 a year, renewed by an emailed invoice you pay yourself; nothing is charged automatically.
Money Lover
The most downloaded option on the list, and the free tier is a decent manual tracker in Thai. The bank-link feature is where it gets messy: it's a separate subscription on top of Premium, it works by storing your internet-banking credentials with the developer's aggregator, refresh is a manual button, and Thai reviewers have listed several Thai banks as supported at various times — we couldn't confirm which of those work in 2026. A past security disclosure involving a shared-wallet data leak, since fixed, is worth knowing about before you hand over a bank login.
Good for someone who'll enter transactions by hand and wants a mature, bilingual app for free.
Piggipo GO
Bangkok-made, built around credit cards: statement dates, minimum payments, instalments, limit alerts. Entry is manual with a fast keyboard, or a paid slip-scanning add-on. No bank link, which the developer treats as a feature. Reviews complain about bugs and migration from the old Piggipo, and the user base is small.
Good for people whose problem is specifically a few Thai credit cards and their due dates.
Manee
A one-person iPhone app that reads Thai receipts and PromptPay slips with on-device AI — no account, nothing uploaded. Free for 30 scans a month, Pro from ฿99 a month. New, no Android, and a solo developer is a risk for anything you'll rely on for years. The privacy story is the best on the list.
Good for iPhone users who pay for most things with a QR code and want to scan the slip.
Spendee and Wallet
Two Czech apps with polished interfaces, Thai UI, and bank-sync features that list Thailand in a country picker without naming Thai banks. Both are fine manual trackers with CSV import. Neither reads a Thai statement PDF. Reviews of both mention sync failures and slow support.
Good for someone who already uses one of them and enters data manually.
YNAB
The best budgeting method on the list and the worst fit for Thailand. English only, no Thai bank import — you'll be converting statements to CSV yourself and importing them. If you're already a YNAB person, the workflow works. If you're not, the price and the manual import are a lot to take on for a method you can approximate in a spreadsheet.
Buxfer
Advertises sync with two Thai banks through an aggregator. We found no user reports of it working in 2026, its iOS app hasn't been updated recently, and reviews cite broken syncs. No free plan.
Your bank's own app
K PLUS, SCB EASY, and MAKE by KBank all categorise your spending automatically, in Thai, for free. If everything you spend runs through one bank, that may be enough. The gap they leave is the one third-party apps exist for: anything outside that one bank, plus investments and tax.
How to choose
If most of your spending runs through one or two Thai bank accounts, an app that reads the statement saves you the typing and catches everything. If you pay mostly in cash or QR from a wallet, a scanner like Manee or a quick manual app like Money Lover or Piggipo fits better. If your budgeting problem is behavioural, YNAB's method is worth the friction.
Then ask what you need at the end of the year. Anyone who files a Thai tax return needs a total of deductible spending, withholding tax on interest and dividends, and, for foreigners, money brought in from abroad. That is why tracking usually falls apart, which our guide on expense tracking goes into. ThaiWealth AI keeps a partial deduction ledger for RMF, SSF, insurance premiums, and donations. Withholding, money brought in from abroad, and the rest of the deductible list still have to be added up by hand.
Whatever you pick, trackers fail for one reason: the method demands more effort than the month has room for. Choose accordingly.
Frequently asked questions
Which expense tracker connects to Thai banks?
None connect through an official bank API, because Thailand has no consumer open-banking API in 2026. Some apps log in with your internet-banking credentials through an aggregator instead. ThaiWealth AI reads the statement PDF you download from the bank app, which needs no login.
Can I export my KBank statement to Excel?
Not from K PLUS. You can request a PDF statement in the app, then either use a converter or upload it to ThaiWealth AI, which turns it into a categorised transaction list you can review and budget against. Our guide on downloading a Thai bank statement covers the request steps for every major bank.
Is Money Lover's bank link safe in Thailand?
It stores your internet-banking login with the developer's aggregator. That's a bigger exposure than uploading a PDF, and Thai banks' terms generally prohibit sharing credentials. Decide with that in mind.
What is dStatement and can I use it with a budgeting app?
dStatement is a Bank of Thailand scheme that sends a verified digital statement from your bank to another bank for a loan application, for about ฿75 per account. It can't be sent to an app.
Is there a free expense tracker in Thai?
Money Lover's free tier, Piggipo GO's free tier, Manee's free tier (30 scans a month), and ThaiWealth AI's free tier (three statement uploads a month) are all in Thai and free.
Does any app track Thai tax deductions?
ThaiWealth AI keeps a ledger of insurance premiums, RMF and SSF purchases, and donations. Thai ESG, mortgage interest, and a filing-ready export aren't there yet. The other apps on this list track none of it.
